How to Play Love Letter Step by Step

  1. Objective: The goal of the game is to be the player with the highest-value card in their hand at the end of the game.
  2. Number of Players: 2-4 players.
  3. Cards: The game includes 16 cards, each featuring a character from the court of a medieval kingdom. Each card has a different ability.
  4. Setup: Shuffle the cards and deal one face down to each player. Place the remaining cards in the center of the table, forming a draw pile.
  5. Gameplay: On your turn, you can take one of the following actions:
    • Play a card from your hand: Follow the card’s ability.
    • Draw a card from the draw pile: Add it to your hand.
    • Discard a card from your hand: Place it face up on the discard pile.
  6. Abilities: Each card has a unique ability. You can only use the ability of the card in your hand during your turn. When you play a card, discard it face up on the discard pile.
  7. Discarding: When a player’s hand reaches 7 cards, they must discard one card to keep their hand at 6 cards.
  8. End of the Round: When the draw pile is empty, the round ends. Players reveal the cards in their hands, and the player with the highest-value card wins the round.
